MAN ATTACKS WOMAN STRANGLE'S AND THREATENS TO KILL HER....

Cambridge —

A Cambridge man who strangled and threatened to kill a woman was arrested on March 25, according to a police report.
Cambridge Police Officers James Crowley and Eric Derman responded to Newtowne Court at 12:26 p.m. and found the 26-year-old woman in tears, “sobbing uncontrollably and pointing to the living room.” She said that the suspect had allegedly strangled her and displayed some red marks on her neck.
She said the suspect had allegedly attacked and strangled her on the living room couch until she felt “as if she was on the verge of losing consciousness.”
She also alleged that the suspect had “slapped her multiple times with his open hand and ripped the dress” she was wearing. Police also noted some minor cuts and welts on her.
She added that the suspect had threatened to kill her on multiple occasions if she ever got him arrested.
Henock Moges, 37, of Newtowne Court was found in the apartment and charged with assault to murder and threat to commit a crime.
The victim declined immediate medical attention but filed a restraining order after he was arrested. The ripped dress was reportedly submitted as evidence.---http://www.cambridgechronicle.com/

ATTENTION DEPRESSION SUFFERER'S!!! (I myself suffer from depression and have my whole life) BE INFORMED!!!

If you are struggling with depression, it can feel as if you're at the mercy of the condition's ups and downs. But there are many simple steps you can take to help turn depression around and keep it in check:

Take excellent care of yourself: Depression symptoms often emerge during times of stress, when you're not eating well, sleeping enough, or getting regular exercise. But as with any condition, practicing healthy habits is exactly what your body needs to heal and get back on track.

Stick with your treatment plan: Another common cause of depression is not sticking with your depression treatment plan — both when you feel bad and when you feel good. If your treatment is working, don't stop it because you feel better. Consistency is the key to getting depression under control and preventing its return.

Do the things you enjoy: While you may not feel like pursuing your favorite hobby or adding a social activity to your week, doing so can be a powerful way to counter depression. Start small, but push yourself to engage in meaningful activities: Fake it until you make it.

STORE CLERK SHOT DEAD---Peoria's 3rd Homicide In 2010

PEORIA — The store clerk shot to death Tuesday night on the East Bluff has been identified as Abdallah H. Kattoum, 31.

Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll said Kattoum was pronounced dead at Peoria Food Stop, 728 E. Frye Ave., about 9:30 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the scene by a panic alarm from the scene about 8:20 p.m., and then by a 911 call a couple of minutes later saying someone had been shot, Ingersoll said.

The shooting appeared to have occurred during a robbery or attempted robbery, but police at the scene did not confirm that. Police were looking for two men who were seen running between houses in the area of Wisconsin Avenue.---

Kattoum is Peoria’s third homicide victim of 2010.

The convenience store is located near Gas USA, 2506 N. Prospect Road, where another store clerk was killed last May. In that botched robbery, Anil Dhingra, 58, of Washington was killed by multiple gunshots.

Ali L. Evans, 20, and Deangelo M. Lindsey, 17, have been charged in the 2009 murder.---http://www.pjstar.com/

SWEET DREAMS--My Best Friend 5---In search of......

Now I had two young children and an abusive husband that I despised.I learned that Daddy was renting the downstairs apartment out to a thirty one year old single guy.He was very tall and not too bad to look at.I was starting to notice other guys quite a bit around this time.He was about 6'2 and had a golden brown complexion. He was the brother of one of Daddy's other tenants.Daddy owned five houses himself, including my childhood home of which he and Momma still resided in.I would see this new downstairs tenant occasionally passing through my parents yard to get to his apartment. We would lock eyes briefly and I could feel his attraction to me.I always took pride in my appearance back then even though I was in this controlling and abusive marriage in name only.I would not allow him to take that from me.I just couldn't go out anywhere, but I did try going places a few times when he would come home and pass out.Somehow he would always wake up and sense that I was gone and come looking for me and he would beat me when he found me.So I quit trying to go out anywhere,it was wasn't worth it and it was far too embarrassing. So sometimes when I would hear the new tenant leave his apartment,I would go out onto our porch and pretend to be busy dusting the rugs or sweeping off the porch just to get a glimpse of him.He could always feel my presence. He would always turn around and catch me looking at him and our eyes would lock briefly.I suppose this went on for a couple of months and Daddy told me that the new tenant had been inquiring about me.His sister told Daddy that her brother was asking about me.So Daddy was aware that his new tenant was peeping out his abused married daughter.
This became like a game for the new tenant and me,whenever one of us would hear the other close the door or come out of our apartment we would race to catch a glimpse of one another. And then one night when I was laying in bed drifting off to sleep,I had a premonition of the two of us kissing in his front doorway.I yelled out "ooooooo nooooo"!!! My abusive husband heard me from the next room and asked me "What's the matter with you?" and I immediately said "nothing."I've always since childhood had these unexplainable dreams and such that would have meanings and sometimes would come true as shown to me.I've never to this day understood them. But I knew something was going to happen with this guy but I just didn't know when or how.

Drunk Man tries to resuscitate dead possum (I posted this for being very odd)

March 29, 2010 (PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa.) -- Police say they charged a Pennsylvania man with public drunkenness after he was seen trying to resuscitate a long-dead opossum along a highway.

State police Trooper Jamie Levier says several witnesses saw 55-year-old Donald Wolfe, of Brookville, near the animal Thursday along Route 36 in Oliver Township, about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

The trooper says one person saw Wolfe kneeling before the animal and gesturing as though he were conducting a seance. He says another saw Wolfe attempting to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Levier says the animal already had been dead a while.

The Associated Press could not locate a home telephone number for Wolfe.(ABC-WLS)

WOMAN WISHES DEATH ON HUSBAND THAT STABBED HER AND HER TWIN SISTER......

A Queens woman wished death on her husband Tuesday, saying she feared for her life when he slashed her throat and stabbed her sister in a meltdown over her pregnancy.
"He tried to kill me," Patrona Kates said from her bed at Jamaica Hospital, her bandaged neck and hands bearing wounds left by her husband, Fitzgerald Jolly.

"He wouldn't stop stabbing," she told the Daily News, incredulous that the violence happened in front of their 2-year-old son, Ryan, her two young nieces and three other children.

"I thought I was going to die," she said.

Her voice weak, Kates said she has no sympathy for her husband of four years.

"If they [the police] find him, I hope they kill him," said Kates, relieved her unborn child was not harmed in Monday night's bloodbath at a relative's Jamaica home.

Cops continued to hunt yesterday for Jolly, who bolted after slashing Kates, 36, and stabbing her twin sister, Patricia Kates.

Police fear that Jolly capped off the violence by jumping into the East River from the Whitestone Bridge, where his car was abandoned.

Kates said her sister tried to save her from her berserk husband, who chased her into a bathroom with a kitchen knife.

"My sister tried to make him stop," she said of Patricia Kates, who was also being treated at Jamaica Hospital for wounds to her stomach and hands, her family said.

The attack went down in the home of the twins' younger sister, Venice Kates, 33.

Jolly, an unemployed construction worker, flipped out when his wife told him she was pregnant, Venice Kates said.

"She was happy about the news and she shared it with him," she said.

But he screamed: "We can't afford another child."

Cops said Jolly demanded his wife get an abortion and asked her to leave with him. When she refused, he picked up a knife and attacked, Venice Kates said.

"It was insane," Venice Kates said. "He was out of control."

SWEET DREAMS--My Best Friend 4---In search of......

As my best friend started to heal from her horrific ordeal and loss,my abusive first husband and I took our son and moved into my Daddy's apartment over the garage.Soon after, I discovered that I was pregnant with my second child.By now I hated the man that I lived with and I would no longer allow him to touch me.I thought perhaps this would force him to leave me alone and remove himself from my life.I had so very much wanted to move into that cozy little apartment with just my son but that didn't happen. My parents took marriage very seriously and were pretty much like "You've made your bed,Now you have to lie in it".Those were some very unhappy years and a lot of things I honestly don't remember,it's like a big blur.My abusive 1st husband landed himself another job with a local glass company.I knew that it wouldn't last long but I was thrilled that he would be out of the apartment and my site.I loved whenever he wasn't aound.I would literally cringe when I would hear him coming up the stairs.I was into reading a lot back then because I was a prisoner I couldn't go out or do anything.

My Mother-In-Law would even come by and ask her son if I could go out with her and he would always say no.She would say to him "Boy I'm your Mother, what's she going to do wrong with me?" and he would say "I know who you are".Around this time she and I started to get along,I felt that she finally understood what I was going through with her abusive and controlling son.She would also tell him that he should not abuse the one he loves. But it was to no avail.By this time my best friend had moved also. She moved into a small house that was in the same area as her Parents house.I would not really be able to visit her until my final seperation from my abusive 1st husband.Because he would drink up all the money he made we were unable to keep a home phone and I was so terrifed that I would go into labor all alone in that apartment and not be able to get help.Thank God that didn't happen. My daughter would be born on Father's Day 1980 a healthy baby. Her dad left the hospital and came back later on that day drunk.I was so disgusted,I felt sick to my stomach. His older brother who drove him up to the hospital, had to almost literally carry him out.And then during another time I remember also seeing a sinister side of my abusive husband when he had gotten a puppy from someone and he took the poor helpless pup outside on the porch and cut off it's tail. That poor puppy cried out in shriek's of severe pain.I had to keep my 2 year old son away from the area. There was no way that I could allow him to see such a horrible act by his dad. There was blood everywhere on the porch. It literally looked as if something had been slaughtered out there.I started thinking back to my best friend Bernice and what she had told me about praying, for her then abusive boyfriend to be arrested and I myself began to pray to God above for relief from this situation.I wanted out BAD.My abusive husband always told me though, that he would never let me go and that he would kill for what was his.He also told me that he would take my children away from me.He said "You will NEVER get my KIDS!!!".He felt this way because his Mom had left his dad and took he and his brother with her.She had said that his dad would literally lock her in the house. So finally one day she took her sons and left she moved very far away but even though she did it for good reason,he refused to see it that way.I had really gotten myself into a horrible mess with no easy escape. So I begun to pray hard, very hard.I had to get out this mess somehow....

POLICE AFTER BANK ROBBER ACCIDENTLY SHOOT 2 YEAR OLD BOY...

The father of a young boy critically injured after being shot by Jacksonville police aiming at a bank robbery suspect Friday is holding vigil by his son's hospital bedside after arriving from Jamaica, the boy's uncle told The Times-Union today.

Kirk Crichton is with his 2-year-old son, Daniel, at Shands Jacksonville hospital, said Don Crichton. Daniel remains in critical condition today as he recovers from shots to his chest and arm. His mother, Joann Cooper, 35, is in fair condition recovering from a gunshot to her foot.

Police this afternoon identified the suspect as Jeremiah Mathis, 31, of Utica, N.Y. He has prior convictions in New York for robbery and possession of a controlled substance. He was last released from prison in 2008, records show.

Don Crichton said Daniel's father doesn't intend to leave his son's side and will not immediately be available for interviews. In an earlier telephone interview with The Times-Union, Kirk Crichton criticized police for their actions.

The Jacksonville branch of the NAACP called today for an independent inquiry into the shooting. The State Attorney's Office is investigating whether any laws were broken. If not, then a Sheriff's Office review board will try to determine if any policies were violated.---http://www.jacksonville.com/

Man stabs pregnant wife and her twin sister---apparently his wife refused to get an abortion

A Queens man - enraged because his wife refused to have an abortion - slashed her throat and then stabbed her sister in the stomach Monday night in front of a room full of children, police and relatives said.
The wounded wife, Petrona Kates, and her bleeding twin, Patricia Kates, both 36, fled their Jamaica residence about 8:45 p.m. and ran to a local bodega, desperately pleading for help.

The Kateses' cousin Lesia Wickham, 32, said that according to family members' account, Petrona Kates' husband, Fitzgerald Jolly, became furious after he returned from Philadelphia and learned his wife was pregnant.

"I guess he didn't want her to carry on with the pregnancy," said Wickham, shocked over the bloodshed, which took place in front of at least six children, including Petrona Kates' young son.

"They were arguing. He left, then came back inside, took a knife from the kitchen and started to attack them."
Wickham said that as Jolly stormed out of the house, he "dropped the knife in a neighbor's yard and jumped in his vehicle and drove off." Cops later found the vehicle abandoned on the Whitestone Bridge, but Jolly's whereabouts are unknown, police said.
Petrona and Patricia Kates were both in stable condition last night at Jamaica Hospital, police said.
Bodega clerk Zaqrea Mahammed, 23, said he was behind the counter when Petrona Kates burst into the store. "I saw her come in holding her neck, bleeding all over her body," he said. "She said, 'Call the police! Call an ambulance!'"

MAN LUNGED AT POLICE OFFICERS WITH AN AX AND SHOT TO DEATH....(pretty crazy)

The 43-year-old Los Angeles who was killed in a fatal officer-involved shooting in an Inglewood market after he lunged at officers with an ax has been identified, the Los Angeles coroner said.

Mario Jaramillo had been stabbing himself with a knife and was fatally shot by two Inglewood police officers, according to the Inglewood Police Department.

Inglewood police would not, however, confirm the victim's name or age or where he was from.

The fatal officer-involved-shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m., Saturday at City Farm Market, 10801 Prairie Ave., Inglewood police Lt. Oscar Serrano said.

Inglewood police were called to the store by market employees who said a man confronted a worker with a knife and said "he killed people," Serrano said.

The suspect allegedly tried to stab the worker, then walked away, Serrano said. Officers sealed off the market and began searching for the man. Police followed a trail of blood to a walk-in refrigerator in the warehouse, where they found more blood.

As officers were preparing to enter the walk-in refrigerator, the suspect allegedly exited holding an ax, Serrano said. The suspect then allegedly raised the ax over his head and lunged toward the officers.

Two officers opened fire on the man, who died at the scene, Serrano said.--READ MORE @http://www.dailybreeze.com/

SWEET DREAMS--My Best Friend IlI---In search of......

Living with my 1st abusive husband I usually was unable to leave the house alone or visit friends but I just left,my mother-in-law understood. All I remember is once I got there my best friend was sitting in the den,she was visibly upset and crying. She told me that her boyfriend was shot while talking on the phone with her.She said he was evicting a female roommate and she could hear the female roommate yelling angrily in the background at him.She told me that all of sudden she heard a gunshot ring out and then dead silence. She said that she started screaming out his name over & over again before hanging up and calling police. He had just been shot to death by his LIVE-IN GIRLFRIEND of several years. My best friend later discovered the man that she had fell in love with and had a fairytale romance with was liar. This explained why he had never taken her to his home.At the funeral she found out that he had been married for many years and had adult children. His wife lived out of town.So you see he could not of legally married my best friend because he was already married. She found out that the man she thought had rescued her like a prince in a fairy tale, had not really rescued her at all.I didn't know what was worst, the physically & mentally  abusive relationship that she suffered through with her ex-boyfriend or this LIE that she had been living for over a year. And to top it off she found out that she was pregnant again after giving birth to her first child the year before with this LIAR.Now she was going to have three kids to support as a single Mom alone.I couldn't understand any of these horrible things. How could this happen to my best friend? Bernice was the most caring and wonderful person that I knew.I just couldn't understand it for the life of me.I told her how very, very sorry that I was and I tried to comfort her, but really there were no words to ease her pain. What do you say at a time like this??? You've just wittnessed a murder over the phone and found out the last year of your very life has been a total and complete lie???Like I said there were no words.I spent most of the day with her and then went back to my miserable and torturious life at my mother-in-law's with my abusive 1st husband. My parents were back from vacation and Daddy had a vacant upstairs apartment that he himself owned over his garage, located on the property of where I grew up.I wanted to move-in there because I just had to get out of my mother-in-law' house.I grew up in a very clean and organized environment and my mother-in-law's house was just the EXTREME opposite of my childhood home.My Daddy had gotten sick during my stay with her and he had been hospitalized for a short time.Anyway I had went to visit him in the hospital, there were other relatives visiting from Chicago and I had placed my purse on the floor when one of his niece's said "Man this hospital is loaded with roaches" and I looked to see what she was talking about and there crawling all over the place were like three roaches.I could have DIED of embarrassment.Even though she didn't realized from where they came I sure did because later on when I got back to my mother-in-laws house,I checked my purse and it was LOADED with bugs.I knew then and there that I had to get my baby and myself OUT of that house period!

Police Officer's son clearly a victim of physical abuse according to court documents...

A doctor who examined the 11-year-old son of an Allen police officer says the child clearly was the victim of physical abuse, court documents state.

The boy's mother and stepfather – who also is an Allen police officer – are both charged with crimes relating to their disciplining of the child.

Allen police Cpl. Melissa Smith, charged with felony injury to a child, told a Child Protective Services investigator that she had slapped her son before, documents show.

The alleged incident happened at the Smiths' house in Allen. It started when the boy was "disrespectful, rolling his eyes and making sarcastic comments" toward Melissa Smith, the arrest affidavit says.

She disciplined him by "striking him on the head with a metal spoon, striking him in the face with her hands and striking him on his buttocks with a belt, leaving severe marks and bruising," the affidavit says.

The boy's stepfather, Robert Darrin Smith, came home a short time later and "handcuffed the victim, threw him to the ground, strangled him, picked him up and placed him in a car and transported him to the Allen Police Department," according to the affidavit.

The two spoke in the parking lot, where Smith told the boy to apologize to his mother, the affidavit states.

Robert Smith is charged with official oppression, a misdemeanor.

A physician examined the boy and determined he had been physically abused, Collin County sheriff's spokesman John Norton said.

A CPS investigator asked Melissa Smith at what point she felt discipline would rise to the level of abuse, documents state. She answered that beating her son with a baseball bat and breaking his bones would constitute abuse.

Both officers are on paid leave. They could not be reached for comment Friday.---http://www.dallasnews.com/

SWEET DREAMS--My Best Friend II---In search of......

So like I said I've been thinking a lot about her and remembering a lot about our friendship.I know some time ago I had heard that her dad had passed away.Anyway that Sunday afternoon I went home to my abusive 1st husband and she continued to go visit her abusive boyfriend at the County Jail, but not really to see him,but to actually see the guard she had met there.Once they started really dating, she stopped going to the County Jail period. Her abusive boyfriend  ended up doing big time for his stolen joyrides.
Believe it or not,her uncle was the landlord of that mice infested crappy dump my best friend Bernice lived in.She and her son finally moved back in with her parents.I left my abusive 1st husband again shortly after I had my first child and moved back in with my parents also.During this time I was free to visit Bernice sometimes and her romance with her new guy was blooming fast.He had already asked her to marry him.Sometimes he would  drive by during my visits and she would go out to the car and chat with him.I don't ever recall him coming inside.Looking back now there were danger signs everywhere of his deceit but of course she and I were very young and quite naive. My Friday visits with my best friend started my years of watching the night time soap drama "DALLAS" on CBS.Her Mom and sisters tuned in every Friday night and now so did I.
Living with my parents gave me a chance to work part time at a local hamburger stand. It didn't last long though because my parents went on vacation every May and they were demanding that I and my baby go with them. They were afraid my abusive 1st husband would destroy their house,if they left town and left me alone there. After being dragged on vacation for years against my will,I didn't want to go.Believe me this all sounds incredibly DUMB to me now.Wow if only I could go back,I would happily take my baby and go ANYWHERE in the world with them. But I choose to go back to my abusive 1st husband. He lost the apartment we had lived in and moved back in with his Mom.Daddy managed a large amount of rental buildings for one his nephew's and he had rented us an apartment and gave my abusive husband a job.Every weekend when my abusive husband would get paid he would drink the money up and would not provide for my baby or me.He would not pay rent nor utilities. So finally Daddy fired him and evicted him from the apartment.Anyway I moved into my Mother-in-laws home with him.

This Man admitted to punching his girlfirend and causing her to drop her baby...

The Queens man arrested for killing his girlfriend's 19-month-old daughter admitted he punched the child's mother - causing her to drop the toddler to the floor, law enforcement officials revealed Saturday.

Anniyah Levant fell Wednesday at her mother's apartment in Corona. She suffered a broken jaw, a lacerated liver and spleen, and massive internal injuries, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Allen Shannon, 27, hung his head as he was led from the 110th Precinct in handcuffs Saturday. He was held without bail on second-degree murder charges Saturday night at his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.

Prosecutors allege Shannon asked a female friend to claim he spent Tuesday and Wednesday with her.

When the friend asked why, Shannon admitted he hit his girlfriend, 22-year-old Candice Jones, causing her to drop Anniyah, Brown said.

"His alleged actions are incomprehensible and should result in him spending the rest of his life in prison," Brown said.

Jones initially denied that Shannon hit her or that she dropped her daughter, instead claiming the toddler had fallen off a bunk bed, officials said. It was not clear if she would face criminal charges.

SWEET DREAMS--My Best Friend ---In search of......

I've been thinking a lot since losing my son, about finding my best friend since the 5th grade.I haven't seen her in about 18 years. She moved out of our hometown long before I did.She and I were there for each through a whole lot of stuff.I can remember when I was in my first abusive marriage, she herself was also in an abusive relationship with her boyfriend from our high school days.He was her first love and she had gotten pregnant freshman year.Anyway,we lost touch with each other for a short time, but later we reconnected.During one my separations from my abusive 1st husband I ran into her at a local store and we exchanged addresses and I went to visit her.She lived in this really crummy apartment with mice by the truckload. They were running up the curtains and past my feet.It really gave me the creeps but I was ecstatic to visit my best friend.I was 18 and pregnant with my first child. She was living at that moment, alone with her first born child he was about 4 years old.Her abusive boyfriend was in jail for auto theft and she had met a guard at the local jail. She thought he was wonderful,he treated her like a queen and she believed this was it.Anyway, she and I stayed up for hours talking and catching up on all the crap we had been going through with these two losers.I spent that whole weekend with her and we spent the whole weekend talking and crying and even giggling like we use to back in Jr. high. She told me that she was so desperate to get away from her abusive boyfriend that she had tried to poison him with rat poison on a few occasions. She said that she was so petrified of actually killing him, that she believes she didn't use enough poison.Because nothing ever happened to him,he never even became ill.I laughed so hard at her description of those events, that I couldn't see straight. She said every nite he would hold her so tight and she was afraid that he would die holding on to her.So she capped that idea. She said she then began to pray that he would get caught in one of his stolen cars. She said he regularly went out stealing cars.He had even forced her to ride in these stolen vehicles with their 4 year old son.She told me how he would beat her in front of their son.She described her swollen face to me on a few particular occasions, where the beatings were very severe. She told me how she had begun to despise the very site of her abusive boyfriend and I could totally relate to what she was saying.Because I was experiencing basically the same thing, with a few minor differences. She said that she started praying really hard for him to be caught by police. And finally one day to her absolute delight,he was apprehended by police in a car he had just stolen.

Fight Leads To Stabbing

Cambridge —
A fight escalated when an unknown man pulled out a steak knife and stabbed a Cambridge man in the thigh on March 21, according to a police report.

At approximately 1:08 a.m. on Sunday, officers Paul Gallagher and F. Cabral responded to Cambridge Hospital for a report of a 24-year-old man who had been stabbed. When they arrived, they saw a 2004 Honda Accord parked outside with the passenger doors open and the rear window smashed.

Police spoke with the two men standing outside, who said they had gone to the MDC parking lot by the Charles River for an outdoor party earlier that night, but found no one there. As they turned around and headed to their car on Magazine Street, they reportedly got into an argument with people in a passing green Ford Windstar.

The driver of the minivan allegedly got out and threw a bottle of beer at their car, smashing the rear window. Everyone got out of the car as the driver got into a fistfight with the two men. The driver allegedly pulled out a brown steak knife and stabbed one of the opponents in his left inner thigh. The fight then broke up, the suspect allegedly jumped into the minivan and drove off. He was described as a black man about 6-foot-2, weighing 230 pounds and wearing a red baseball cap.

In the ER, officers spoke with the victim and saw he had a superficial wound, the size of a quarter, on his left inner thigh. He said he was out celebrating his birthday and reportedly relayed the same events as his friends. He said he did not see the knife, but felt a sharp pain in his leg. He said he was not concerned about the wound and was more concerned about his girlfriend’s smashed car window.

None of the witnesses seemed to know who the four people in the Ford were, and the attack appeared to be a random act of violence begun by a fight, police said.---http://www.cambridgechronicle.com/

Lights Out-This man went outside to investigate a power outage and was punched and robbed....

PEORIA — A South Peoria man went from power out to punched out early Thursday morning.

Jimmy J. Williams, 54, of 2514 W. Latrobe St. told police he and his family arrived home about 1:45 a.m. to find the electricity was out. He went outside to check the meter and saw a male standing by the side of his house, according to a police report.

Williams said he confronted the male, who punched him in the mouth, then reached into his pocket and took out $1,000 in cash. The suspect, who did not show any weapon, ran northbound between houses on Latrobe, toward Starr Street.

Williams said the cash was from a check he recently cashed.

A police officer walked to the side of the house and noticed the meter had been removed from the box and was lying on the ground, the report said.---http://www.pjstar.com/

Man Gets 16 Years for beating a man near death in 2008

ST. CHARLES — A Carpentersville man convicted of trying to kill a man with a baseball bat in 2008 was sentenced to 16 years in prison Friday.

Antwan D. Youngblood, 31, of the 1300 block of York Drive in Carpentersville, was sentenced by Associate Judge Allen Anderson for the June 2008 beating. He was convicted Jan. 12 by a jury of one count of attempted murder, one count of armed violence, and two counts of aggravated battery, according to a release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office.
On the evening of June 28, 2008, Youngblood was driving his car in the 2700 block of Hopi Lane in Carpentersville when the car was struck with something that later was determined to be a BB fired from a nearby rooftop, the release said.

A short time later, Youngblood returned with a second man and they argued with the victim, 21 at the time, and a witness. Youngblood and the victim briefly engaged in a fistfight before Youngblood and the second man left.

Moments later, they returned and Youngblood, carrying a baseball bat, exited the car and began to chase the victim and witness. He eventually caught the victim and struck him in the head three times with the bat. The witness identified Youngblood to police and he later admitted he had struck the victim.

The victim suffered a shattered skull and still suffers from memory, vision, speech and balance problems, which a doctor testified are likely permanent.---http://www.surburbanchicagonews.com/

Elderly Woman's Aide Confesses to killing her elderly patient, after first claiming an intruder did it.....

First she claimed an intruder did it.

Now police sources say a home health aide has confessed to killing her elderly patient, claiming it was self-defense.

Investigators believe Yamilette Hidalgo killed Maria Torres, 67, and then cut herself in the face to make it look like someone attacked them both. Witnesses at the Brooklyn apartment building said Hidalgo, 35, yelled and screamed for help around 11 a.m. Wednesday, as part of her ruse.
Under questioning Hidalgo changed her story, telling cops the frail woman first tried to assault her, the police sources said Thursday. Torres suffered from diabetes and heart trouble.

Hidalgo, 35, was charged with murder, but her arrest did nothing to soothe the pain of the dead woman's boyfriend.

"Who cares what she gets, it's still not worse than what she did," said Kenneth Wattenberg, 65.

"If I would see [Hidalgo] face to face," Wattenberg said, "I would say 'Why would you do this awful thing?' "

Torres, the mother of several adult children, lived alone in her Sunset Park apartment, but required visits from a health aide, Wattenberg said.
The victim was found with a wound to her head and upper body, police said. Cops don't believe Hidalgo, who is 5-foot-3 and 225 lbs., used a weapon to attack Torres, but repeatedly punched and kicked the woman as she stepped out of the shower. The victim died within minutes.

Hidalgo did not tell investigators what sparked the fatal confrontation.

"She had a young heart," said Wattenberg, who met Torres at a Knights of Columbus dance six years ago. "You couldn't ask for a nicer woman to be with . . . . Now my life is ruined."

Follow-up to:Woman throws chemical on 3 women standing in front yard-(she threw acid on these women, leaving 1 woman disfigured)

A woman has been charged with throwing acid at another woman -- and firing a gun at her -- while also accidentally splashing her own child with the caustic substance Wednesday on the South Side, police said.

Charlis Harris, 26, of the 7700 South Essex Avenue, was charged about 3 a.m. Friday with heinous battery and reckless discharge of a firearm, according to police.

Charlis Harris, 26, was charged with heinous battery and reckless discharge of a firearm, according to police.

The incident occurred Wednesday in the 7800 block of South Constance Avenue when Harris allegedly threw a caustic liquid into the face and onto the torso of another woman who was getting out of a car after Harris allegedly followed her to the Constance Avenue address, police said.

Police said the two had been involved in a fight about an unidentified subject prior to the incident and as the victim began running away Harris also allegedly fired a handgun at the woman, but didn’t strike her.

The woman with acid burns was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she has been disfigured, but was in “stable” condition, police said.

A female child who was in Harris’ sport-utility vehicle was also splashed with the acid, which was possibly in a bottle, when Harris got into the SUV to drive the child to Jackson Park Hospital where her daughter was treated and released with a minor injury from the acid, police said.

Police who were checking area hospitals -- found her there and placed her under arrest.---http://www.suntimes.com/

Dear Abby--I found this one very disturbing and decided to post it

MOTHER STRUGGLES TO LOVE THE DAUGHTER SHE DISLIKES

DEAR ABBY: I can't stand my 10-year-old daughter. I was an 18-year-old single mother when she was born. I find her ugly and annoying. Everyone tells me how "sweet" and "pretty" she is, but I can't see it. I dread when she comes home from school. I am not physically abusive to her -- I would never do that. But I can be verbally abusive, and I know I need to stop. She just makes me so mad.

I am now married with two more kids (boys), and I adore them. What's wrong with me? How can I fix this? I'm afraid it's too late. I have no spiritual adviser to talk to, and I can't afford to speak to a professional counselor. -- ANONYMOUS IN WASHINGTON STATE

DEAR ANONYMOUS: The circumstances of your daughter's birth were very different from those of your sons. When you look at her, you may be reminded of a chapter in your life you would prefer to forget. How sad for both of you.

The way you treat her, particularly in relation to her half-brothers -- will affect the way she perceives herself for the rest of her life. People whose parents treat them as unlovable often regard themselves as not "measuring up," and it can cause self-esteem problems that last a lifetime.

Ordinarily, I would encourage you to seek low-cost therapy through your county department of mental health for the sake of both you and your daughter. If that isn't possible, then I advise you to hold your tongue, control your temper and compel yourself to show your daughter approval and affection every day until it becomes a habit or she's old enough to leave -- whichever comes first.

MAN CONVICTED OF SWORD THREAT-he molested his girlfriend's child & then threatened her with a sword

March 25, 2010 10:01 PM |
A DuPage County jury has convicted a Bloomingdale man of molesting his girlfriend's child and then threatening the woman with a samurai sword to stop her from going to police.

The jury deliberated about five hours Thursday before convicting 50-year-old taxi driver Ray Matazzoni on charges of armed violence, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and domestic battery.

The jurors, however, acquitted Matazzoni on several other counts, including aggravated unlawful restraint.

Prosecutors said Matazzoni inappropriately touched the 8-year-old girl while alone with her, beginning in 2008, and threatened the mother after the child reported the abuse.

Defense attorneys George Ford and Jacqueline Lacy contended prosecutors lacked compelling evidence, such as a confession or physical evidence, to prove their case.

Matazzoni has been held in the DuPage County Jail on $150,000 bond since arrest in May.---http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/

KC & The Sunshine Band member arrested for sexual misconduct with a minor

(CNN) -- A member of the 1970s pop music group KC & the Sunshine Band has been arrested after a 17-year-old boy said he had sexual contact with the musician, authorities said.

The teenager said he had sexual contact with Richard Finch at Finch's house in Newark, Ohio, the Licking County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

During an interview with detectives, Finch "disclosed that he did in fact have sexual contact with the juvenile, along with multiple other male teenage juveniles as well ranging from ages 13 to 17," the office said in a statement Wednesday.

Investigators said they arrested Finch this week. The sheriff's office statement lists the offense as gross sexual imposition, a felony.

A statement on Finch's Web site reads:

"We appreciate your contact, but at this time, we have no comment. We will let due process happen through the legal system and through that, we are sure Mr. Finch will be vindicated from these unfounded allegations."

The sheriff's office said detectives continue to interview people and that a grand jury will consider additional charges later.--http://www.cnn.com/

CYBERBULLIES MAY HAVE CAUSED A TEENAGED GIRL'S SUICIDE

Cops are investigating whether cyberbullies contributed to the suicide of a Long Island teen with nasty messages posted online after her death.

Alexis Pilkington, 17, a West Islip soccer star, took her own life Sunday following vicious taunts on social networking sites - which persisted postmortem on Internet tribute pages, worsening the grief of her family and friends.

"Investigators are monitoring the postings and will take action if any communication is determined to be of a criminal nature," Suffolk County Deputy Chief of Detectives Frank Stallone said yesterday.

Alexis' parents downplayed the Internet role, saying their daughter was in counseling before she ever signed up with formspring.me, a new social site, where many of the attacks appeared.

"I believe in my heart that cyberbullying wasn't the cause of Lexi's death," said her mother, Paula Pilkington. "This is a mistake."

Alexis' father, Tom Pilkington, who serves in the NYPD, has said they will cooperate with the police probe.

Despite the negativity online, Paula Pilkington said the family is getting plenty of support in the real world.

"The outpouring of children coming to my house is amazing," she said. "There has to be some positive coming out of this."

Woman Attacks Man With Large Knife--claims she was a victim of a violent assault

Cambridge —

A woman who attacked a man with a large knife was arrested March 16, according to a police report.

Police responded to an Elm Street resident for reports of an assault at 7:41 p.m. They met a woman who reportedly said she was the “victim of a violent assault.”

She was identified as Jennifer Bastin, 25, of 242 Elm St. and said she had problems with a man whom she was not on speaking terms with for the past two weeks. She said they got into an argument and he attacked her. Police noted “obvious red marks” on both of her arms where she said he grabbed her.

In the apartment, police also met with a man who told them that it was she who attacked him and held a knife to his throat during a fight. When she got enraged he said he would not fight with her because “she is a girl and in my country they don't hit girls.” But that made her angrier and she allegedly grabbed the largest knife in the kitchen and came at him with it. To avoid injury, he admitted to pushing her back against a wall, grabbing the knife and throwing it into the sink.

After comparing both versions and checking out the scene, police concluded that Bastin was the one who attacked the man. She was arrested and charged with assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to the report.---http://www.cambridgechronicle.com/

Ryan McCloskey, 28, of the 600 block of West Irving Park Road, was charged with felony aggravated domestic battery, according to Belmont District police.

McCoskey was arrested about midnight Wednesday at 3601 N. Halsted St. and police said he is scheduled to appear in bond court later Thursday.

WOMAN ARRESTED CALLS 911

After Naperville police booked a woman for disorderly conduct, they granted her the customary one phone call.

She promptly dialed 911. To report she was being held against her will at the Naperville police station.

Police were not amused. They charged Carly A. Houston, 29, with filing a false 911 report, Naperville police said today.

The incident began about 1:40 a.m. Sunday when police were called to a gas station by a cab driver who said Houston refused to pay her full fare, Naperville Sgt. Gregg Bell said.

The driver and Houston had begun arguing during the ride, and the driver, deciding to end the ride, pulled into the gas station and asked Houston to get out and pay her fare. Houston, who police said was intoxicated, refused.

"The fare was $6.60, and she only wanted to pay $6," Bell said.

The driver called for police, who subsequently arrested and processed Bell. Along with disorderly conduct, she was charged with theft of labor or services and criminal trespass because she refused to get out of the cab when police ordered her to do so.

She then was allowed her phone call.

"Instead of calling for bail, she called 911 and said she was trapped in the police station," Bell said.

Her 911 call for help went to the Naperville 911 center, where dispatchers alerted officers about it.

Houston eventually was allowed to make another call, and this time she contacted an acquaintance who came and posted her bond, Bell said. TO LISTEN TO THE ACTUAL CALL GO TO:http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/

MURDER SUSPECT ATTACKS ATTORNEY

By Erika Wurst ewurst@ stmedianetwork.com
ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP -- A cold case murder trial will be delayed after the defendant attacked his lawyer in Kane County court.

As jurors were being selected for his trial, Quentin Moore attacked Ronald Dolak, according to witnesses. Moore hit Dolak several times before guards subdued Moore.

Dolak was not seriously injured, but he will no longer be Moore's attorney. On Tuesday, Judge T. Jordan Gallagher ruled that Moore, 28, of Aurora, will have a new lawyer when he faces charges for the 2003 murder of Jorge Caro, 21.

Caro, 21, was beaten and left to die after pretending to be a Latin King during a September 2003 party on North Lincoln Avenue. He suffered 38 injuries, including a baseball bat blow to the head. Prosecutors contend it was Moore who used the bat to beat Caro.

Kane County prosecutor Jody Gleason said Moore first yelled during jury selection, possibly in an attempt to delay the trial. When that wasn't effective, he attacked Dolak.

"Certainly our position is that this was a delay tactic," Gleason said.

It worked. A new attorney will be appointed Wednesday. Gleason said it will take a while for Moore's new attorney to look at the case file and speak with co-defendants, who are in both state and federal custody.

Moore was arrested in Operation First Degree Burn, a massive sweep that charged 31 men with cold case murders.

Three other men have been convicted in Caro's death.

Moore is serving a 23-year sentence on an unrelated attempted murder and facing murder charges in a 2001 double homicide.

Denton police are investigating a stabbing death that took place early this morning.
Witnesses found the body of a man in a parking lot in the 300 block of Fry Street about 3:45 a.m. and called 911. Arriving officers found a man face-down in a parking lot with a cell phone on “talk” beside his hand. PEEPING TOM BUSTED---PEEPING UNDERNEATH STALLS IN WOMEN'S RESTROOM

A boys baseball team helped police capture a man suspected of peeping under stalls in a women's restroom in Torrance, their coach and police said today.

Manuel DeJesus Garcia, 33, of Carson was arrested Sunday evening after the 11- and 12-year-old boys on the Red Sox spotted him walking near Walteria Park in Torrance.

Just a half-hour earlier - after the peeping tom suspect had struck again - police had asked the boys if they had seen a man fitting his description.

"Every one of the boys at the top of their lungs said, `Coach, there he is!"' said Larry Kruger, whose son is on the Torrance American Baseball team.

In the latest incident Sunday, Garcia allegedly followed a woman into the restroom of the McDonald's restaurant at Pacific Coast Highway and Ocean Avenue and looked under the stall as she used the toilet, police said.

WOMANS BODY FOUND--HEADLESS AND HANDLESS IN VACANT LOT

ATLANTA -- A woman’s dismembered body was found Monday afternoon in a vacant lot in northwest Atlanta.

The body of the young African-American woman was found at about 2:45 p.m. on Elm Street near Joseph E. Boone Street. Investigators said it appeared the woman was killed somewhere else and dumped at the site. The body was found by a passerby who called 911, officers said.

A police detective said the woman's head and both hands were cut off.

“At this point, we called in cadaver dogs. We haven’t located any of the dismembered body parts. We will be searching the area to try to locate them,” said Atlanta Police Maj. Keith Meadows.

Jamilah Garth said she would often cut through the vacant lot as a short cut.

She said Monday afternoon, her friend was doing the same thing when she stumbled upon a woman’s naked and mutilated body.

Garth said, "This is a very dangerous neighborhood. Everybody needs to be careful. That’s why I keep some mace on me."

Garth said her friend called police immediately after she found the body.

Garth said, "She went up to it and kicked it. She just started screaming."

Meadows said they don't know yet who the woman is or how she was killed.

Police have not made any arrests.

"If you know anyone who has been missing, please let us know," said Atlanta city Councilman Ivory Young, Jr.---http://www.cnn.com/

TEENAGED DAD ENRAGED THROWS NEWBORN HEADFIRST AT CRIB....(very disturbing)

A teenage dad became so enraged by his girlfriend's yelling and their newborn daughter's crying that he threw the baby headfirst at her crib, killing her, authorities charged Monday.

Jorge Galvez, 19, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the death of 3-week-old Lilliana early Saturday at the family's apartment in Cicero.

Galvez dropped the baby, Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Colin Simpson said. Then, when the baby kept crying and the girl's mother Sabrina Banda shouted at him, he threw the baby, hitting her head, Simpson said.

Ignoring Banda's requests that he call police, Galvez then went to sleep for six hours, Simpson said.

It was only after he awoke Saturday afternoon that he called his mother -- and she told him to contact police -- that an ambulance was finally sent to the family's home in the 1600 block of 50th Court, Simpson said.

Lilliana was dead when help arrived, police said.

It is unclear why Banda didn't do more to help the baby, police said.

Galvez is "very confused right now," said Assistant Public Defender Parle Roe-Taylor, suggesting the death may have been accidental. "He's very upset by what happened to his daughter."

Judge James Gavin ordered him held without bail.

Court records show Galvez's cousin pressed domestic abuse charges against him in April last year, but the charges were dropped.

He also beat a 2008 assault case after a man he allegedly threatened to kill failed to show up in court, and had a 2007 disorderly conduct charge dismissed, records show, though he was convicted of underage drinking last year.----READ MORE:http://www.suntimes.com/

Tiphne Hollis, a sophomore at Ed White High School, died after the shooting shortly before 9 p.m. in the area of Stockton Street north of Interstate 10. Police have released no details in the case, including the victim's identity. No arrests have been reported.

The victim's cousin said she, the victim, the victim's sister and two other family members had been out shopping together shortly before the shooting. The driver, in her early 20s, decided to go see a friend in the area of Calvin Street near Interstate 10, said the cousin, 16.

The Times-Union is not identifying the survivors from the car because no arrests have been made.

The driver was initially unable to find the home, but got directions through a cell phone call. She was driving down the street when the girls heard one shot, followed by several others fired at their car, said the cousin.

The vehicle, an old police car with tinted windows, was put into reverse and hit another vehicle. Tiphne collapsed onto her sister's lap in the back seat, said the cousin, who was also in the back.

"Oh, God," Tiphne cried out as her last words, the cousin said.

The driver got out of the car and went for help, while the cousin said she called police. Those left behind begged Tiphne to breathe. The cousin said Tiphne took some shallow breaths, but was otherwise silent. She was pronounced dead at Shands Jacksonville hospital.

“It just doesn’t seem real to me,” the cousin said. “We did everything together.”---jacksonville.com

POLICE LOOKING FOR ARMED & DANGEROUS RAPIST IN DALLAS TEXAS AREA....

By ABIGAIL THATCHER ALLEN / The Dallas Morning News
abigail.allen@dallasnews.com

Richland Hills police are looking for a man suspected of beating one woman and raping another at knifepoint in her home this week.

The suspect was identified as Lynn Edward Denham, a 54-year-old homeless man. Denham is a registered sex offender in Oregon, but he had not registered locally, Richland Hills police spokesman Nathan Stringer said.

The initial attack happened between 9 and 10 p.m. Wednesday after Denham and the first victim got off a Trinity Railway Express train near Handley Ederville Road and State Highway 121, police said.

Police said the two went to a homeless camp in a nearby wooded area, where Denham is suspected of beating and choking the woman until she lost consciousness.

The victim either played dead or was unconscious for up to six hours, then went to a nearby McDonald's restaurant for help between 3 and 4 a.m. Thursday, police said.

About the same time, police got a call from the woman who was attacked in her home in southeast Richland Hills.

The woman told police that she awoke to find a man standing over her bed with a knife. Her description of the suspect matched that of the attacker in the earlier crime, police said.

When the intruder put his knife down, the woman tried to escape, police said. That's when the intruder hit and choked her, bound her and raped her.

The woman reported that he stole her gray 2004 Dodge pickup. Stringer said Denham may have left the area and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on either case can call the Richland Hills Police Department at 817-299-1880.

Man shot to death after asking noisy neighbors to pipe down so his kids could sleep....

A young Bronx dad was shot to death Sunday after he asked a boozed-up neighbor to pipe down so his kids could get some sleep, police and relatives said.
Before he was slain, David Morales, 30, called across the street to the home of his nephew Louie Garcia, 41, to complain about the neighbor's 5 a.m. noisemaking.
Moments later, Garcia, who was pals with the loud neighbor, got a second call from Morales - one he will never forget.
"I heard him trying to breathe over the phone - gasping," a shaken Garcia recalled. "He couldn't talk."
Garcia said he hung up and called the landline again. A neighbor answered and said Morales had been shot in the chest.
Garcia and Morales' cousin Bianca, 17, rushed over to the Vyse Ave. building and found Morales near death outside his room. His puzzled children were still inside.
Bianca dialed 911 and then tried in vain to save Morales' life.
"He felt very cold and had sweat on his body," Bianca said. "It felt like a sponge - it wasn't even stiff. I realized he had taken his last breath."
While Garcia made a last attempt to revive Morales using cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Bianca went to care for Morales' boys, David Michael, 8, and Devon, 6.
"They were confused. They didn't understand what was going on," Bianca said.

Man holding a 7 year old girl at knife point, was shot and killed by police

A man who police shot when he refused to drop a knife he was holding against a 7-year-old girl Sunday night at an apartment in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side has died.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed Monday morning Quentin Green, 25, of an unidentified address died of a police involved shooting at 6521 S. Lowe Ave. Green was pronounced at 10:24 p.m. Sunday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

A police News Affairs release said police responded at 8:05 p.m. to the 6500 block of South Lowe Avenue for a domestic-related call of a "person with a knife.''

When Englewood District officers got the scene they could see from the street that the suspect armed with a knife was holding the child out a second-floor window, according to the release.

Officers attempted to calm the man, who pulled the child into the window. Officers went into the building and encountered the suspect holding the knife up against the child, the release said.

Officers ordered the suspect to drop the knife several times but the suspect refused to obey the commands, the release said.

The man then attempted to harm the child with the knife and an officer fired, striking the suspect, and the child was rescued, the release said.

The man shot was initially taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said. Langford said the victim was 24.

The release said the child sustained minor injuries from the offender and was taken to an area hospital by Chicago Fire Department personnel.---http://www.suntimes.com/

Follow-up-Two Teenaged Girls Viciously Attacked,16 year olds face slashed

Every time a teen looks in the mirror, she will see the V-shaped scar - a permanent reminder of the violence that erupted near her grandmother's Brooklyn home.
Shantayah Lewis, 17, sat in her room at Kings County Hospital Saturday, calmly reflecting on the Friday afternoon attack that left her with dozens of stitches in the left side of her face.
"My face is too beautiful to be fighting," Shantayah told the Daily News. "Fighting is not the key. Violence is not the way."
Shantayah was walking with her 15-year-old cousin, Shakeena Grant, on Franklin Ave. near Lincoln Place in Crown Heights about 3:30 p.m. They were being tailed by a girl who is dating the ex-boyfriend of Shakeena's sister, Shamaula.
"She kept following us," the injured teen said. "She wanted to fight."
After a brief scuffle, the 17-year-old girl who had been following the cousins vowed to return.
About 5 p.m. the girl came back with her boyfriend, the center of the beef. She then whipped out what witnesses said was a knife and started slashing.
"She swung and started stabbing my face," Shantayah said. "I didn't know what to do."
Shakeena, who was stabbed, was released from a hospital Saturday.
The two girls somehow escaped and ran to the Union St. home of Shantayah's grandmother, Cheryl Evans. The grandmother called 911 and the two girls were taken to Kings County Hospital.
Though the wounded teens believed the boyfriend was holding them down, cops said he actually was trying to break up the attack.

Follow-up to Walmart racist comment over intercom incident-Police Make An Arrest

(CNN) -- Police in New Jersey have made an arrest in connection with a public address system announcement at a Wal-Mart store telling "all blacks" to leave.
More details are expected to be announced later Saturday.
Gloucester County prosecutors say that shortly before 5 p.m. on March 14, an unidentified male accessed the public address system at the Turnersville, New Jersey, Wal-Mart Supercenter Store. "All blacks need to leave the store," the voice announced. Store management contacted the Washington Township Police Department, which opened an investigation in conjunction with the county prosecutor's office, according to Deputy Police Chief John Dalesandro.
Wal-Mart corporate spokesman Lorenzo Lopez said the company is "just as appalled by this as anyone."
He emphasized that Wal-Mart, the world's largest public corporation, is working with law enforcement officials.
"Whoever did this is wrong and acted in an inappropriate manner," Lopez said. "Clearly this is unacceptable."
Law enforcement officials said that Wal-mart is now acting to limit the public address feature to a smaller number of in-store telephones.
Lopez has confirmed that the New Jersey store is updating its intercom systems and that the company is looking at Sunday's episode to see if there are any lessons for the retailer's other 4,000-plus American stores.---http://www.cnn.com/

Two teenaged girls viciously attacked,16 year old's face slashed...

Two teenage girls were seriously injured when they were held down and viciously attacked by a woman with a knife on a Brooklyn street Friday, cops and witnesses said.
Shantayah Lewis, 16, and her 15-year-old pal, Shaquina Grant, were with a group of friends on Franklin Ave. in Crown Heights at about 5 p.m. when a man and a woman pulled up in a car, witnesses said.
The pair - who witnesses identified as "Darnell" and "Corona" - stormed out of the vehicle and zeroed in on the two teens.
The man grabbed the two girls and held them down as the woman repeatedly slashed and stabbed Lewis' face with a knife and jabbed the blade once in Grant's body, witnesses said.
"[They] get out and start fighting with them until Darnell holds these two little girls down and Corona just starts slicing my granddaughter's face up," said Cheryl Evans, 55.
The two girls somehow escaped and ran to Evans' Union St. home a few blocks away, leaving a trail of blood behind them.
"They both tried to run here and Shantayah, the poor baby, passed out on the stoop," Evans said.
Both of the girls were taken to Kings County Hospital and are expected to survive
The knifing duo peeled off in their car and no arrests had been made as of Friday night.
It was still not immediately clear what sparked the brawl, but family members suspect it had to do with a previous beef between the woman attacker and Shantayah's cousin.
"There was some problem with one of my nieces," Evans said. "This woman Corona was out to get her."
But instead, the angry couple went after the two young girls.

Man breaks into home and climbs into bed with owner

March 18, 2010 (PITTSBURGH) -- Police say a man broke into a Pittsburgh home and climbed into bed with its owner, apparently because he was drunk and cold following a rap concert.
Homeowner Frank Fontana says he was in bed when the man climbed in about 5:30 Wednesday morning. Fontana says he asked whether it was a woman who has keys to his home -- and he grabbed a baseball bat when a deep male voice answered, "No, it's not."
Police say Fontana kept the man at bay until police arrived but didn't hit him with the bat.
Police say the intruder told them he was looking for shelter after a Tuesday night concert by rapper Jay-Z at the Mellon Arena.
The 33-year-old man faces a preliminary hearing on charges of criminal mischief and criminal trespass.(ABC-WLS)

40 Year old Las Vegas man accused of having intimate relationship with 15 year old soccer player

A 40-year-old man accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl who was a player on a soccer team he coached pleaded guilty in district court today to two felony charges.
Gabriel G. Lopez, of Las Vegas, pleaded guilty to two counts of statutory sexual seduction in connection with what police said was an ongoing relationship with the girl.
Lopez and the girl were spotted by a Henderson police officer in a parked vehicle near the Arroyo Grande Sports Complex at about 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2009.
Authorities said they told police they were just talking. Upon questioning, the girl told police the two had been in a sexual relationship for several months.
When asked her age, the girl at first said she was 17, but later admitted she was 15, police said. The age of consent in Nevada is 16.
Lopez was initially facing 11 counts of statutory sexual seduction. After negotiations with prosecutors, he waived a preliminary hearing in Henderson Justice Court so he could plead guilty in district court to the two counts.
He is scheduled to be sentenced July 20 in front of District Court Judge Michelle Leavitt. The maximum penalty on each count is five years, with a minimum of one year, or the judge could elect to sentence him to probation.
Lopez has remained out of custody after posting $22,000 bail.
Lopez and his attorney, Bill Terry, declined to comment on the case after Thursday’s hearing; however, Lopez did offer an apology.READ MORE AT:http://www.lasvegassun.com/

Domestic Violence victim takes back her abusive ex-con boyfriend and becomes murder victim

A Brooklyn woman who once sought refuge in a domestic violence shelter took back her ex-con boyfriend, only to become the victim of an apparent murder-suicide, neighbors and police said Thursday.
Wendy Gonzalez, 31, was found lifeless on the bedroom floor of her Bedford-Stuyvesant apartment as the body of her former boyfriend hung from a window grate just a few feet away, police said.
Investigators believe Eddie Rhodes, 40, strangled his on-again, off-again-girlfriend before taking his own life, NYPD sources said. The dead couple had recently reconciled, according to a shaken neighbor.
"They moved here to get her away from him, but she took him back," said the neighbor, who declined to give her name.
"He wasn't supposed to know where she lived [but] she took him back and it ended in her death," the neighbor said.
"It's such a sad, sad case." Gonzalez, who has two daughters under the age of 7, had briefly lived in a domestic violence shelter in the Bronx to escape from Rhodes, neighbors said.
But she moved to the Lafayette Ave. building earlier this year, and Rhodes began to visit frequently, neighbors said.
Though normally quiet, Gonzalez's stereo blared at full volume most of Wednesday - making neighbors suspect that the killer was trying to mask the murder.
"It was so loud that nobody could hear her scream," the neighbor said.
When Gonzalez's worried sister couldn't reach her, she called 911, and firefighters knocked down the door at 8:10 p.m., discovering the bodies inside.
Gonzalez's grief-stricken sister collapsed in tears in the apartment building's hallway, the neighbor said.
"Her sister was outside screaming and crying, 'We told her to stay away from him! Why did she go back to him?,'" the neighbor said.
Gonzalez never filed a domestic incident report against Rhodes, according to the NYPD.
But Rhodes had a lengthy criminal record with more than two dozen arrests, including busts for assault, weapons possession and sexual abuse, according to records.
He also served two prison sentences---http://www.nydailynews.com/

THE AFTER MATH OF CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE (by Dennis Thompson Jr.)

People who were sexually abused as children may have issues with sexual dysfunction and self-destructive behavior when they get older. Sexual abuse leaves many scars, creating feelings of guilt, anger, and fear that haunt survivors throughout their lives. Adults who have undergone sexual abuse as children commonly experience depression and insomnia. High levels of anxiety in these adults can result in self-destructive behaviors, such as alcoholism or drug abuse, anxiety attacks, and situation-specific anxiety disorders. The damage extends to the sexual abuse survivor's sense of their own sexuality. Many survivors also have trouble pursuing adult relationships and enjoying sex as an adult. The abuse can color a person's sexuality, preventing the survivor from pursuing a healthy sex life with a loving partner. Sexual Abuse and Sexual Behaviors In general, childhood sexual abuse survivors tend to either pursue sex recklessly as adults or to forgo sex completely, says Stephen L. Braveman, MA, a licensed marriage and family therapist in Monterey, Calif., and the western regional representative of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. "They typically wind up with splitting behavior, where things become very black and white," he says. "Either they are very sexually active, or they shut down sexually." www.everydayhealth.com

SWEET DREAMS 4 -My fourth Entrie

Monday, July 6, 2009 Sweet Dreams 4 I remember back in June of 94,I was married to my 2nd abusive husband and pregnant with my now 14 year old son.Nicole Brown Simpson had been murdered. This sent a real chill down my spine.I can remember thinking, now her kids are left without a mother..But,I still remained in my abusive marriage for a little while longer. However,I did separate from him before my son was born.Of course this was not our first seperation.....ya,know the victim most always goes back to her abuser..You know the drill...'I'M Sorry' it won't happen again...Anyway on to Clue #3 CONTROLLING BEHAVIOR...The abuser wants to know your every move...if you arrive home late from an appointment or work, the abuser will become angry and accuse you of seeing someone else. The abuser at this point is very irrational.Trying to defend your actions or trying to reason with the abuser at this point can be very exhausting, to say the least. The abuser will want to control everything from what you wear,to where you go, to whom you talk too.Are you starting to wake up?Well,THERE'S EVEN MORE...AND IT GETS MORE SERIOUS AS WE GO ALONG...

SWEET DREAMS-THREE'S A CROWD

I can remember having the very misguided feeling of being special and ooh so loved, because my husband was so insanely jealous.I was foolish and naive enough to think that this was cute.I was 17,the first time I got married...of course,it was against my adopted parents better judgement. But,you already know...that of course, I did not listen to them.So many women feel unrealistically flattered by the potential abusers jealousy.WAKE UP! You are headed in a DANGER ZONE! I must also mention that,I have suffered from depression my whole life..So,of course this added to my insecurities and acceptance of allowing myself to be a victim time and time again for years..I must say when my 21 yr. old daughter started dating her soon to be abuser..I could do something that,I could not do each time I met one of my future abusers..It was if I had some kind of a built in radar..something that I did not have concerning my abusive relationships. He may as well have been wearing a label because I could see right through him.He absolutely, terrified me.I tried over and over again to warn my daughter to no avail. She stayed in the relationship.I could tell exactly when she was starting to see the REAL person that she too quickly became involved with..Which brings me to #2)QUICK INVOLVEMENT! That Worldwind Wanna Be Romance. The potential abuser comes on strong "You are the only one for me" or "you are the only person that I can trust or talk to"..Many abusers propose in less than six months.Potential abusers will often put pressure on their victims for commitment...to the point that the victim may feel guilty if they want to slow down the relationship. This is yet another important clue..PAY ATTENTION! If these two very important clues are not enough Believe me THERE ARE MORE!

MY SECOND SWEET DREAMS ENTRY

Sunday, July 5, 2009 Sweet Dreams Too First,I would like to say the feelings of hopelessness and just sheer low self esteem can cause a woman to feel so worthless, that she feels somehow it is her fault that her partner is abusive to her. These feelings are Totally Untrue. Please,Please do not listen to these negative feelings. If you have a trusted family member or friend..Please confide in them and let them be a strong source of support. You CAN NOT CHANGE HIM! You are waisting valuable time,if you try.I know that I felt for years, like it was my fault..I thought 'It must be my fault,if I keep attracting these kinds of guys".If you do not have a friend or family member, talk to your family doctor. If this is not an option call 1-800-559-safe.I know that a lot of women stay in the relationship because of finances and their children or both.Especially today,in these hard economic times. It can be difficult. But,your life is priceless..just remember that.If you have young children, they desperately need you.For those of you that would like to know what to look for, as far as WARNING SIGNS..TO VIOLENT ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR..# 1)EXTREME JEALOUSY! He will tell you especially in the beginning of your relationship, that his jealousy is because he loves you so much..you are the best thing that has ever happened to him.He doesn't want lose you.WATCH OUT!

SWEET DREAMS (The beginning of this blog)

This blog is dedicated to women survivors of domestic violence.I was a victim of domestic violence for years. It is behind me now but,it recently touched my 21 year old daughter's life. All of the signs were there and I saw them and I desperately tried to warn her about them. But,of course she would not listen to me.Her ex-boyfriend recently set our house on fire as we were sleeping. The Lord awoke my daughter in time for her to alert us all(my husband & my two teenaged sons)we were able to escape without harm and our house was not very badly damaged.I have since installed a home security system. We all are still terrified because he was never arrested for the aggravated arson. The police did not have prove that he did it.Even though he posted a photo of himself, posing with a lighter burning,on a social network. My daughter has a 2yr. protection order against him.He violated it with telephone calls,he was arrested for this and he does have to go to court for it.In my blog I will list telltale signs of a potentially abusive person.I hope that I can help someone out there avoid becoming a victim of domestic violence.

MANHUNT IN PEORIA (published ALLVOICES) by me win59

On Tuesday Morning November 16th,my husband and I awoke to the startling news of two inmates escaping from the Peoria County Jail sometime between Monday 8:00pm and Tuesday 6:30am. James Fuller 44 and Aaron Cook 28 had managed to escape from the roof. The two had tied sheets together to lower themselves from the rooftop of the jail.(it was like something out of a movie) Fuller had been digging his escape thru the roof for well over a year.Aaron Cook had been in jail since March for breaking the arm of a 3 year old girl.James Fuller an unemployed felon, already convicted of armed robbery and rape was accused of attacking the same woman twice(I & my husband remember reading about the attack in our local newspaper)He is described as a very scary character.Police warned the public that Fuller is to be CONSIDERED DANGEROUS.But,what really made this very scary for me personally, was the fact that he was tracked down to the very neighborhood in which I live.Aaron Cook was captured several hours after the two escaped. He was found hiding in the basement of a residence and two people were arrested for obstructing justice. But,Fuller was still at large.Just blocks away,Fuller broke into a resident's home, tied him up and robbed him, taking a vehicle and a cell phone.Around 7:00 pm he reportedly left the stolen vehicle in a High School parking lot(he was in my area now). The police tracked the cell phone to an area that is like 2 blocks from my house! I was a paranoid mess and I can imagine the fear his victims must have felt upon the news of his escape. He was out there somewhere the entire night.Police finally captured him in a vacant house, where he reportedly surrendered without a struggle(he had left my area). It is reported that Serial Rapist James Fuller 6'3 and 225 lbs. was a patient at Zellers Mental Health Center(now closed down) 20 years ago, when he overpowered a worker and escaped(he was 24 yrs. old) he was at large for 5 days.He was a sixteen year old basketball star when he was first charged with rape,it is reported. But,thanks to the Peoria Police Department and local authority's James Fuller Serial Rapist and Man Of Terror is back behind bars!
