BELLVILLE, Texas (AP) — A southeast Texas man was charged Wednesday in the weekend shooting deaths of five family members, including his 2-year-old niece, who also was decapitated.
Maron Thomas, 20, remains jailed on a $1 million bond, accused in the deaths of his mother, stepfather, sister, brother and niece. Police said Thomas was naked when he was caught trying to break into a neighbor's home after the shootings.
"This is one of the most horrific crimes we've had," Austin County District Attorney Travis Koehn said.
Investigators said an ongoing family dispute led to the shootings, but they declined to give additional details.
The five bodies were discovered Sunday afternoon at the family's single-story brick home in Bellville, a rural town of about 4,000 people 55 miles northwest of Houston. Police say the shootings took place early Sunday morning.
Preliminary autopsy reports indicate all five died of gunshot wounds, and the 2-year-old girl was decapitated with a machete. Her head was found near her body, Austin County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Paul Faircloth said.
A shotgun and a handgun found near the scene were both used to kill the family, Texas Ranger David Maxwell said. Authorities would not say how many times each victim was shot.---http://www.dallasnews.com/

An undercover investigation has resulted in the arrest of a 63-year-old woman on prostitution charges at a Buffalo Grove spa.
Myeong Hi Lim, of the 2600 block of South Cedar Glen Drive in Arlington Heights, was charged last week with prostitution and violating Buffalo Grove's massage ordinance.
Police received a complaint of illicit activity at a strip mall on the 1100 block of Weiland Road, Sgt. Michael Szos said.

CHURCH MUSIC DIRECTOR AND HIS ROOMATE CHARGED WITH CHILD PORN
A Glen Ellyn church music director and his roommate have been charged with possession of child pornography, authorities said today.
Brian Milnikel, 45, music director at St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic School in the western suburb, and Christopher Kontopoulos, 20, both of the 800 block of Nelli Court in Naperville, had bonds of $200,000 and $100,000 respectively set for them this morning by DuPage Judge Liam Brennan.
Assistant States Attorney Brian Perkins told Brennan that Naperville police have been investigating the pair since October.
"They both admitted downloading the videos and that they watched them together," Perkins said.
Milnikel told Brennan that he was the full-time music director at the school and had been a music instructor for over 20 years.
Barry Lewis, an attorney representing Kontopoulos told Brennan that if his client posts bond, he was going to move in with his parents in Glenview.
"Your honor, there is a great likelihood that Chris was under the domination of a much older person," Lewis said.
Brennan, as a condition of bond, banned the defendants' use of the Internet and computer, and ordered them not to have any contact with anyone under 18 years old.

PEORIA — A 42-year-old Peoria man was taken into custody about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in connection with a stabbing that resulted in the city's first homicide of 2010.
Clarence R. Thomas, who listed his residence as the South Side Mission, 1127 S. Laramie St., was being questioned at the police department.
A 38-year-old Peoria woman was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center after she was found about 45 minutes earlier next to a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Northeast Adams Street near Wayne Street.
Police said the victim, who suffered multiple stab wounds to her upper body and arms, was unresponsive when they arrived.
She was taken to St. Francis but did not regain consciousness.
Coroner Johnna Ingersoll said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
Ingersoll said the victim's identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Witnesses at the scene described the suspect to police, who began searching the area near Adams Street.
The search led police to the 900 block of Northeast Madison Avenue, about three blocks away, where they located Thomas. He was taken into custody without incident.
The city had 17 homicides, including one ruled justifiable, in 2009. The first occurred on Feb. 18.--http://www.pjstar.com/
